Is a Wedding Content Creator Worth It for a Destination Wedding?
Sabina Yasirova
Content Creator & Producer

For a lot of destination weddings, yes. When most of your guests fly in for a weekend and many of the people you love watch from home, getting your wedding in vertical clips within a day or two is worth more than it would be at a wedding down the road. It is not worth it for everyone, though, and it should never take the place of a wedding film. Below I go through both sides, as plainly as I can.
What you are actually paying for
A wedding content creator films the day vertically, on a phone, the way you and your friends would, only with attention on the moments you won't be able to film yourselves. On our Hybrid package I also bring a VHS camera. Some clips reach you while the wedding is still going. The edited Reels and a short Highlight Reel follow within 48 hours on the phone packages, or 72 hours on Hybrid.
So the product is speed and format. You get content that is ready to post and send, cut for a phone screen, while people still care about seeing it. If you want the longer version of the role, I wrote about it in what a wedding content creator actually does.
Who does not need one
Some couples ask me this and I tell them to save the money. You probably don't need a content creator if:
- You don't post on social media, and neither do the people you would want to share the day with.
- Your wedding is small and everyone who matters is there in person.
- You are happy to wait for your film and photos, and you don't mind a quiet few months before you see anything.
- Your budget only stretches to one video service. In that case book the film. More on that below.
- You have a friend who is good with a phone, wants the job, and will actually put the drink down to do it.
Striegler Photo goes further than I would. In their article on the pros and cons of hiring a content creator the author writes that "90% of people don't need one." I think the share is lower at a destination wedding, for reasons I explain next, but the point stands that plenty of couples are fine without.
Why fast delivery matters more at a destination wedding
At a wedding near home, guests stay in touch afterwards. They see each other, share their own photos, talk about the day. At a destination wedding the group scatters within two days. People fly back to New York or London, and the weekend on the lake turns into something they mention at work.

Two things follow from that.
First, the people who could not travel. A grandparent, a friend with a new baby, colleagues. For them, the Reels are the wedding. A clip of the ceremony on the terrace that arrives the same evening means they watched it with you, roughly, instead of hearing about it three months later.
Second, timing for your own posting. Most couples want to share something while they are still on their trip and their phones are full of messages. A wedding film takes weeks or months to edit properly. Photo galleries take time too. Striegler's article mentions photographers who can take around three months. A content creator fills that gap. You have something finished to post in the first days, and the film arrives later as the thing you keep.
The budget order: film first
I co-founded a wedding film studio, YASIROV Films, so I know what goes into a proper wedding film: a crew, planned coverage, sound from the vows and speeches, and an edit that takes real time. Phone content is a different thing. It is fast, light and personal, and it will not give you a film to watch in twenty years.
If you can only book one, book the film. I mean that even though I run a content creator service. Once the film and photography are covered, a content creator makes sense as the addition that handles the first week rather than the next decades.
On our side, prices at the time of writing (before tax) are:
- Basic, €1,200: one content creator, phone, up to 6 hours, 2 Reels up to 15 seconds, 1 Highlight Reel up to 1 minute and the RAW materials, delivered in 48 hours.
- Extended, €1,700: up to 8 hours, 3 Reels, 1 Highlight Reel and the RAW materials, delivered in 48 hours.
- Hybrid, €2,000: VHS camera plus phone, up to 10 hours, 3 Reels, 1 Highlight Reel, a VHS Reel up to 30 seconds and the RAW materials, delivered in 72 hours.
Travel and accommodation are included for Lake Como weddings. For Lake Maggiore and Lake Garda we add a fixed €500 for travel and accommodation, plus tax. Other places are quoted separately. A €500 deposit secures your date. For the wider market, the same Striegler Photo article gives a range of $500 to $5,000 for wedding content creation services, which tells you how much the service varies between creators. Full details of our packages are on the pricing section.
Covering the whole wedding weekend
A destination wedding is rarely one day. There's a welcome dinner, often a boat day on the lake, sometimes a farewell brunch. These are usually the most relaxed parts of the weekend, and they almost never get filmed, because the film crew is booked for the wedding day itself.

This is where a content creator can earn its place even for couples who weren't sure. Phone content suits those events well. Nobody has to pose, the equipment doesn't change the mood, and the clips from a welcome dinner can go out before the wedding day even starts, which gets the guests who are still travelling excited to arrive.
If you want coverage beyond the wedding day, write to us with the plan for the weekend and we'll put together a quote.
How to tell if it is worth it for you
A short test. A content creator is probably worth it if two or more of these are true:
- A good share of your guests are flying in, and many people you love are not coming.
- You want to share the day within a day or two, not in a few months.
- Your film and photography are already booked.
- You have events across the weekend you would like captured in a lighter way.
- You want behind-the-scenes moments that a film crew, focused on the main story, won't prioritise.
If none of these apply, keep the money. If they do, the second question is whether the creator can work next to your photo and film team without getting in the way. We work alongside photographers and filmmakers all the time, often with YASIROV Films, and we stay out of their frames. Ask any creator you're considering how they handle this. A content creator who walks into the photographer's shot during the vows is not worth any price.

FAQ
Is a wedding content creator the same as a videographer?
No. A videographer, or a film team, makes a wedding film that is planned, recorded with proper sound and edited over weeks. A content creator films vertical clips on a phone for fast sharing. They do different jobs, and many couples book both.
Can a content creator replace my wedding film?
No. If you can only afford one, book the film. Content is the addition, not the substitute.
How fast will we get the content?
Some clips reach you during the wedding itself. The edited Reels and Highlight Reel arrive within 48 hours on the phone packages, or 72 hours on Hybrid.
Will a content creator get in the way of our photographer?
A good one won't. We work alongside photo and film teams regularly and keep out of their frames.
Is travel included for Lake Como weddings?
Yes, travel and accommodation are included for weddings on Lake Como. For Lake Maggiore and Lake Garda we add a fixed €500 for travel and accommodation, plus tax. For other locations we quote them separately.
Can you film the welcome dinner or the boat day too?
Yes, send us the plan for the weekend and we'll quote coverage beyond the wedding day.
