Why Every Lake Como Wedding Needs a Content Creator

I used to think of myself as the person with the phone at weddings: the one grabbing the boat ride to the ceremony, the reaction on a father's face, the ten seconds after the first kiss that no one else thought to point a camera at. A few years on Lake Como later, I understand that this isn't a smaller job than making the wedding film. It's a different one, running in parallel.

A wedding day on Como moves in a way that's hard to explain until you've lived through one. A boat crossing from Bellagio, a walk down a cobbled lane in Varenna, evening light on the water outside a villa in Cernobbio. A film crew plans its angles and its light around moments like these. My job is to move faster than that: catch it as it happens, on a phone, in vertical, and have it ready to send before the guests have sat down for dinner.

What it adds to the day

Couples want their videographer's film, delivered in its own time, and they also want something to share with friends and family that same evening. That second thing is what I make. It's a version of the day that feels immediate and a bit unfiltered, shot from inside the group rather than from across the room.

It also covers the people who couldn't come. On a destination wedding there are always grandparents, friends and colleagues at home. A short Reel that evening is how most of them see the day, weeks before the film is finished.

How it works next to your photographer and videographer

Most of my weddings have a full photo and video team, and part of my job is staying out of their frames. During the ceremony and the first dance I know where the videographer needs to stand, so I plan around it instead of finding out mid-shot. The rest of the day I'm free to move: among the guests, on the boat, in the corner of the room where the bridesmaids are fixing someone's hair.

If you can only book one of us, book the film. I say this to couples every season. Content is the quick version of the day; the film is the one you keep.

Moments on Como worth planning for

Every lake has its own rhythm. Como's is boats, terraces and light that changes quickly depending on where the sun sits behind the mountains. Shooting content here means reading that rhythm fast: which terrace catches the evening light, which stretch of the lakefront gives a good walk-and-talk shot, and when to put the phone down and just watch.

The parts of a Como wedding that tend to give the best vertical footage are the in-between ones:

  • Getting ready, especially the last ten minutes before leaving, when everyone is rushing.
  • The boat or car transfer to the ceremony, and the guests arriving by water.
  • The first minutes after the ceremony, when people finally relax and start hugging.
  • Aperitivo by the water and the walk to dinner as the light drops.
  • The first song of the party, filmed from the dance floor, not from the edge of it.

What to sort out before the day

A few small decisions make the content much better:

  • Send me your timeline and tell me about the boat transfers. On Como those are often the moments people remember.
  • Decide whether you want to post on the wedding day itself or wait until the next morning. I will send the first clips during the day either way.
  • Tell me if there are moments you'd rather keep private, or guests who prefer not to appear online.
  • If you have a wedding planner, put us in touch so I can see the run of the day and the venue rules.

What you receive

Reels of up to 15 seconds and a Highlight Reel of up to a minute, all filmed vertically. Some clips reach you during the wedding. The phone-shot packages, Basic (€1,200, up to 6 hours) and Extended (€1,700, up to 8 hours), are delivered within 48 hours. Hybrid (€2,000, up to 10 hours) adds a VHS camera, a VHS Reel and the raw material, and takes 72 hours. Travel and accommodation are included for weddings on Lake Como. I explain the details in this interview about what a wedding content creator does.

If there's one thing I'd tell a couple planning a wedding on Lake Como, it's this: leave room for someone to just be present with a camera all day, without a shot list. Some of my favourite footage has come from moments nobody planned. If you'd like that for your day, send us your date and venue.
